The Dauphin County district attorney’s office has charged a Scranton-area priest who has close ties to the state’s first standalone casino owner with lying to a grand jury about his relationship with a former mob boss.  Pennsylvania state police arrested the Rev. Joseph Sica, a priest with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Scranton, at his home this morning. Sica, who once served at the Church of the Annunciation in Williamsport, was arraigned before Judge Todd Hoover in Dauphin County Court.  The charges stem from a grand jury investigation into whether Scranton-area businessman Louis DeNaples was truthful when he applied for a casino license.  The grand jury recommended that Sica be charged with perjury in connection with his testimony about his relationship with the late Russell Bufalino.  Continue readingEditor’s Note: I think I saw Ray Liotta buying ricotta at Gerrity’s .  Coincidence…..?

Uncle Louie To Appear Before Grand Jury

Three months after hearing from their last witness, a Dauphin County grand jury will reconvene today and tomorrow as it renews its investigation into whether Mount Airy Casino and Resort owner Louis DeNaples lied to the state gaming board about his alleged ties to organized crime.  DeNaples, is expected to appear before the grand jury along with Anne Neeb, executive director of the Pennsyvlania Gaming Control Board.  Continue reading.

Uncle Louie In Trouble?

A Dauphin County grand jury probe investigating Mount Airy Casino Resort owner Louis DeNaples can proceed again after a two-month shutdown, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled Monday.  According to the Times-Tribune, the grand jury is reportedly investigating whether Mr. DeNaples misled state gaming officials about ties to organized crime. Mr. DeNaples, a Dunmore businessman, has denied having any ties. The Dauphin County grand jury is scheduled to meet Dec. 27-28, although it is not known what specific cases will be heard by jurors.  Editor’s note: Uncle Louie tied to organized crime?  Naaaaaahhhh…
