Hillary Rodham Clinton and Gov. Ed Rendell will appear at Scranton’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. In answer to a shout from the crowd, the Democratic presidential hopeful told Monday’s Scranton High School rally, “I love the Irish.” And Clinton says she will return with Rendell for the parade on Saturday. Parade association President Thomas Cawley says organizers were expecting about 10,000 people for the event. Cawley says when word gets out that Clinton and Rendell will appear, “it will bring a lot more people downtown.” [Philly.com] Editor’s Note: Enough Hillary, I want some Obama love.

I hate paper ballots! We can put a man on the moon and clone animals, yet I have to cast my ballot the same way the founding fathers did. Unbelievable! [Times-Tribune]

“We define ourselves as Scrantonians.”
February 25, 2008 · No Comments
Mayor Chris Doherty will declare Tuesday that the city is in strong shape and making progress recognized on state and national levels. “The Office convention helped bring a lot of national attention to our area, as did our being featured in 27 newspaper travel sections across the country,” Mr. Doherty said Monday. “We had Money Magazine touting the growth of our real estate values and we’ve focused on creating a sense of place. We define ourselves as Scrantonians.” [Times-Tribune] Editor’s Note: While I may not be as bullish as our fine mayor, I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.
