The Lackawanna County Trolley Museum was the site of the Green Tea Party all male review on Saturday. Editor’s Note: I think I hear the Legion of Doom sharpening their swords.

Parade Draws Major Crowd, Minor Incidents
March 17, 2008 · No Comments
Officials estimated 130,000 to 150,000 revelers packed the downtown for the festivities and to possibly catch a glimpse of presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., who marched in the parade. Despite such a high-profile guest, the parade ran smoothly. However, as expected, there were some alcohol-related incidents. State police said two adults were arrested for disorderly conduct, and four minors ages 18 to 20 were cited for carrying false identification cards. A 21-year-old male will be charged with two counts of misdemeanor furnishing alcohol to minors, police reported, and one establishment will be charged for sales of alcohol to minors. Police did not release the name of the establishment or the names of adults who were arrested. Police investigated 19 alcohol-related incidents and issued 59 non traffic citations during the parade patrol. [Times-Tribune]

Bars to Open Later on Parade Day
March 3, 2008 · 2 Comments
Saint Patrick’s Day is two weeks from today and some are already thinking about Scranton’s annual parade, which comes March 15. This year, the Lackawanna County district attorney would like bars in the city to consider opening their doors a little later than usual. This year, Lackawanna County District Attorney Andy Jarbola wrote letters to tavern owners in the Electric City requesting they open up two hours later. [WNEP]

The End of an Era?

Rumor has it that Tink’s has permanently closed it’s doors. While I haven’t stepped foot in the place since college, a lot of good times were had there. It always was a great place to catch a live show and one of the only local venues to attract national acts.

While getting my daily news fix at the Times-Tribune website, I stumbled upon a new site from Team Shamrock. It’s called the570.com and it’s defiantly worth checking out. We’ll have to forgive the lack of originality in naming the site… From Crystal Club Soda To Gertrude Hawk Chocolate was already taken.

First Night Has Record Turnout
January 5, 2008 · No Comments
After tallying most of the returns from sales of buttons that provided admission to dozens of events, organizer Leslie Collins, of Scranton Tomorrow, reported a 20 percent increase in sales. About 6,000 buttons for downtown Scranton’s alcohol-free New Year’s Eve party were sold, compared with about 5,000 the year before. Some events, such as “The Brain Show” and “Comedy Dojo,” had lines of people waiting to get into the Northeast Theater Performance Space at the Hotel Jermyn and the Scranton Cultural Center. Twice as many teens turned out for the Battle of the Bands at Holy Cross High School compared to last year. Beyond ticket sales, an estimated 10,000 people turned out for the fireworks at midnight. From Neil Diamond To Kanye
November 3, 2007 · No Comments
Caught Los Amigos‘ show @ Mert’s last night. Dressed in full lucha libre costume the three piece band plowed through several sets with songs as wide ranging as Neil Diamond’s America and Vanilla Ice’s Ice Ice Baby. A good time was had by all.
